This cat (above) was found with head stuck in a tin can (one more reason to dispose of rubbish properly).  The cat would have surely died were it not for the intervention of St Francis Foundation for Animals.
This dog (left) was rescued in January 2003 after being hit by a car.  He could not make use of his hind legs due to the accident.  The St Francis Foundation began the necessary treatment on the dog together with a local vet.  The dog was X-rayed for a better assessment of the damage caused to him.  He was later looked after by Ms Alice Lama.  The dog fully recovered from the accident and was later adopted.
Bruce (right) was rescued at City Gate, Valletta.  He was very skinny when found in March 2002.  While he was being rescued, an English family stopped by to see what was going on.  We kept contact with this family via e-mail, and they visited Malta again in September to see Bruce.  They decided to adopt him and take him with them to Kent.  All necessary medical tests and paperwork were made, and Bruce was sent to the UK on September 25, 2003.

Here are some of the animals the Foundation has rescued:
Orange (left), was cared for by a family in Vittoriosa, but disappeared for three weeks.  The cat was found early September 2003 with a broken jaw and a gaping face wound.  The family contacted the Foundation which immediately took the cat to a vet for treatment.  The cat's wound was infested with maggots, but is now totally recovered, as the second picture shows.
Rufus the cat (left) lives with the Dominican Fathers in Vittoriosa.  Rufus is pictured here with Fr Mark Montebello, a member of the St Francis Foundation for Animals.  Below - Fra Xmun Cachia
Above is one of the three rabbits which a vegetarian member of the foundation rescued from a butcher's shop after hours of lobbying in February 2004.  The rabbits are now living happily at the Razzett tal-Hbiberija in Marsascala.

Picture above shows Fra Salvinu Spagnol OCD from the St Theresa Convent in Cospicua.  The dog is called Tuko.  Tuko was found near the convent's door, dying of hunger and dirty and unable to open one eye.  He couldn't even walk.  The Friars at the convent decided to keep him.

Now, after veterinary examinations, Tuko is fully recovered, and is taken care of by Fra Salv and loved by all the other friars.
