Elephants cry salt tears

The wisest eyes the brightest soul
sadly he watched me
I reached across to touch his skin
slowly he reached back to me
and I thought I would burst with excitement
the great noble land whale was trying to reach me
though held as a captive he still would receive me

With gentle strength he lift me up
and set me down next to his side
I ran my hands along his neck
and felt the great pulse of his heart
and in my mind entered a picture he sent me
that 9 years a captive alone in his sorrow
was breaking his spirit, he needed his own

Enter the Behemoth trumpet to the sky
the great gray land whale is weeping

That was the start of all he shared
his homeland, his family, his freedom, his capture
A circus clown, the crowd's laughter,
the strange tricks they forced him to

stand upon his hind legs and play a toy piano

I heard his thoughts clearly he asked for compassion
he needed release from his concrete containment
the elephants savior was not to be found

Enter the Behemoth trumpet to the sky
the great gray land whale is weeping

stand upon his hind legs and play a toy piano

Did you know elephants cry salt tears?
