Subculture is a local band whose songs are all about social issues, including animal rights songs, such as "Captured from the wilderness", and the two new tracks on their latest CD, "The sad smile" and "What's going wrong".  Subculture play a melodic "anarcho-punk" style.  Their latest CD "A lifetime of disappointment" is particularly "experimental", and blends several styles, with social issue lyrics which blend the whole project.

Members of Subculture are also active in various social issues and have taken part and organised several public protests (including animal rights protests) and charitable events,
thus turning words into direct action.  Learn more about Subculture and listen to some of their songs.

Subculture's Ray Schembri (Il-Bahri) and Ray Micallef (Il-Hamiemu) also play in
X-Vandals and Abstrass.

Winter Moods have officially launched their latest EP 'Closer', in aid of local animal welfare charities.  The EP contains four songs, including the band's latest single, also titled 'Closer', and another new song 'Not Enough (for Africa)'.  Also on this EP are two new recordings of previous Winter Moods hits - 'Everyday Song' which features the Voices Choir, and an acoustic version of 'Come to You', taken from a recording of a live Radio Voyager session.

"Our involvement with local animal charities has brought us in contact with several individuals who voluntarily donate their time, energy and money daily to assist animals in need - dogs and cats that are abandoned or ill-treated and left to die on our roads.  These
people go out of their way, at any time of day, to save an animal's life," says Ivan Grech, frontman of Winter Moods.

The I-Skandal have brought the unexpected into the local punk scene. They have seen many different faces join and leave the group until they finally settled to the current line-up, their style changing from raw-energetic punk, to a more subtly melodic ska-punk.

The I-Skandal can be said to be a perfect example of a band that has made it through with all the ups and downs that life brings us into, with a funny grin on their faces, bringing chaos to the moshpit every time they play.

The Dolts: Don't expect any talent from us. We just play fast, yell alot, and basically we try to give one hell of a party. Its hardcore punk, straight up in yo face dawg from da hood fo sho yo! Although right now we' taking more of an Oi! direction. Our songs are as a sound of protest, a statement of reality (telling it how it is), fun songs about nothing in particular, something we have experienced bla bla bla.

We record our songs by recording them on a cheap hand held casette recorder, then we re-record it on the mic of the pc. Hence the shitty quality and all that stuff. Not much singing is heard cos we don't have mics.

Influences: Hardcore punk and oi! mostly. Some other types of music may have influenced us
a bit. CRASS!!!, Ramones, Exploited, Casualties, Rancid, Nirvana, Riotous Future (same bassist, plus we all love them, so they have to be an influence), The Hives (the drummer). And some anarcho punk.
