| St Francis Foundation for Animals was set up to put into practice the teachings of St Francis of Assisi. The task of the Foundation is twofold; To take care of abandoned animals, some of which cannot be re-homed, and to teach the true Christian ethic of compassion towards all creatures, in line with St Francis' beliefs which he put into practice throughout his life. The Foundation began where Animal Rescue Malta ended - Animal Rescue Malta had disbanded and merged with International Animal Rescue Malta, leaving all the rescued animals behind. These animals were taken in by other societies and individuals, one of which being the St Francis Foundation for Animals. |
| As you might imagine, the daily upkeep of animals requires a lot of work and money. Costs involve daily feeding, veterinary visits, medication of sick or injured animals, transportation of animals to veterinary clinics, cleaning, and more. Expenses of the Foundation amount to approximately Lm 20.00 daily. The St Francis Foundation for Animals urgently needs your help, which you may give in two ways: By giving some of your time for voluntary work in the care of animals, and by giving a donation to HSBC Account number 040001034050. Your donations may save animal lives, particularly since the Foundation is presently in great financial difficulties and is presently managing most of its costs on credit. All expenses for the Foundation's work are presently paid through the founder's salary, and dues on animal food amount to Lm 1,500. The St Francis Foundation for animals is a member of SOS Animals Malta, the Vittoriosa Local Council's Sub-Committee for Animal Welfare, and of Partnership for Active Animal Welfare Societies (PAAWS). St Francis Foundation for Animals would like to thank Kenneth and Mariella Cassar, without whom this website would never have materialised. |
